Tell VDOT to ‘Fix Rt 29 NOW, OUR SAFETY CAN’T WAIT!’
The community has spent decades going back and forth with VDOT about how best to fix Route 29 Northeast Of Warrenton, and to their credit, VDOT is again working with the community to create a long-term consensus plan.
BUT, while we are talking with VDOT over the next year or more, our safety can’t wait for more accidents. Join us in telling VDOT to use our $7,000,000+ of Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program dollars to immediately implement the Consensus Plan below for Rt 29 NOW! The immediate fixes below meet the needs of the Rt 29 community Northeast of Warrenton by improving safety and reducing accidents, while maintaining accessibility, and increasing throughput.
FOLLOW THIS LINK, sign the new petition, and join with other community members and elected officials – tell VDOT to immediately implement the Consensus Plan and Fix Rt 29 NOW, OUR SAFETY CAN’T WAIT!
WE SUPPORT VDOT ACTING NOW ON THESE CONSENSUS ITEMS:
- Lower the Rt 29 speed limit to 45 MPH from Rt 215 to Telephone Rd
- Fix the Rt 29 sightline problem Southwest of Rt 215
- Improve the Broad Run/Rt 600 and 29 intersection turn lanes, light sequence, and timing to optimize the intersection
These Consensus Items are in place of VDOT’s 2017 “Improvement Plan”, which is now on permanent hold thanks to your support. VDOT’s 2017 “Improvement Plan” included blocking all left turns from Rt 29 to Vint Hill Rd and other local Rt 29 intersections, prohibited left turns back on to Rt 29 headed into the Town of Warrenton, and required U-turns for those trying to turn left into or left out of Vint Hill and the communities along Rt 29.
